The most well known among many Vitamin C health benefits, is it's infamous role in warding off the common cold and it's symptoms. It is no stranger to moms and nutritional experts worldwide, in fact, it is the most common vitamin, whether taken as a supplement or eaten in fresh fruit form.

It is easily accessible and can be found in most supermarkets and pharmacies. Although Vitamin C is quite popular, the health benefits are often underestimated or misunderstood.

What we know as a nation is that Vitamin C helps boost the immune system and increases our germ fighting abilites, but did you know, it can also help against heart disease, muscle weakness, and even insect bites? Indeed it does.

Fact

Vitamin C is far less dangerous than common table salt and is about as necessary for true health as water.

The new 6th Generation Total Balance has set a new standard in the nutritional health supplement industry! There's a whopping 90+ ingredients many of which are rarely seen in the supplement industry.

Total Balance is a true anti aging supplement - the only one that can address all 4 primary causes of aging- free radicals, glycation, methylation and inflammation.

According to Dr. Matthias Rath's book entitled "The Heart Book", weak arterial walls are caused by lack of Vitamin C, thus forcing cholesterol to repair these areas which then increases the risk of heart disease.

Athletic people find Vitamin C to be especially useful in preventing aches and pains after a strenuous workout. Lactic acid is naturally produced when muscles are stretched which crystallizes, causing stiffness. Many swear by 1000mg of Vitamin C for relief.

Insect bites can be treated with a paste of absorbic acid which reduces inflammation and itching. Vitmain C acts as a natural antihistamine. Seasonal allergies can also be treated with Vitamin C to lessen any rash.

Vitamin C, E and beta-carotenes are also powerful antioxidants that neutralizes free radicals which contribute significantly to disease and tissue damage. For example, cells from damaged knee cartilage can release huge amounts of free radicals. Studies have shown that those who have a higher intake fo Vitamin C experience two-thirds reduction in the risk of further damage to their knees.

If that doesn't convince you, Vitamin C is also necessary for the creation of collagen which acts like glue to hold our bodies together. It also creates brain chemicals and metabolizes cholesterol.

Next time you're out and about at your local grocery store, get your dose of daily Vitamin C, whether it be in the form fo fresh fruit, juice, or supplements for a healthier you!

Wondering if you can help me with a question. Is it true your body craves what it needs? I've noticed over the past couple of years, around the time the weather begins to get cooler, I start craving oranges and other "C rich" foods like crazy. Do you think it's amental thing, or that my body is lacking?

Excellent Hub! It made me think.

Yes, in fact, your body does tell you when you need something, although we don't always pick up on it or act on it. I remember growing up, I used to like the taste of the metal tips they had at the end of certain pens, only later in adult life did I find out I was missing minerals in my diet. It is not a mental thing, our brain works in mysterious ways, lol!
